I am very confident that dr. dream Australia offers the best skin treatment available, but I am still surprised that some patients think that our treatment is a quick fix. It isn’t, because there’s no such thing as a quick fix for your skin.
Even the best and most appropriate treatment for your skin type can only help a certain amount, maybe 50 per cent, and the rest comes from looking after your skin properly … and by “properly”, I mean daily.
I know how hectic life can be, particularly if you have a family and a job. I have four children and run my business, so I do understand, but I urge everyone to prioritise themselves even for just a few minutes a day, because truly every little bit helps.
One of my patients has 11 children and they keep her so busy that she hasn’t been able to find the time to look after herself, but I have asked her to set aside one minute in the morning and two minutes at night to look after the health of her skin. I hope everyone can do at least that.
It shouldn’t seem like an impossible task, because then you might feel defeated before you start and you will be discouraged from even making the effort. As with so many things, you just have to start somewhere … and keep in mind that nobody can care for your skin if you don’t.
To me, the best starting point is a better understanding of your skin and the simple things you can do every day. You have to know your skin type to choose the right products and, when you have them, the bare minimum is to cleanse and moisturise in the morning and at night.
On top of that, you must apply sunscreen every day. That’s the number one secret to youthful skin. I am surprised that only about one in three clients understands just how important sun protection is, because exposure to the sun accelerates skin aging and is more harmful than anything else.
That’s not to say that your lifestyle doesn’t include other detrimental factors – for example exposure to pollution, cigarette smoke, and stress – but if you protect your skin from UV radiation, cleanse and moisturise morning and night, you will have made a great start to your skin care routine.
Of course there are a number of other things you can do, including exfoliation and applying a face mask, and I encourage you to do as much as you can, but I really want to reassure everyone that good skin care is well within your reach.
Once you get started, it’s important to keep going, because it might take your skin a week or two to get used to the products you’re using and to being treated regularly. Just as importantly, if you don’t keep it up, two months later you’ll be back to square one.
I want you to make a start, but I also want you to do it as well as you can, which means understanding how to treat the more delicate skin around your eyes and lips and how to be gentle.
